How often should you replace your old laptop with a new one?

Most computer specialists would say that the average lifespan of it is three to five years. Though the life expectancy of it can reach five years or more, it’s expected that it will not apply to some recent applications.

Your old laptop might not be able to keep up with the advancement of technology. Nonetheless, if your work does not require a high-end laptop, then you may purchase a new laptop when your old laptop stops functioning, becomes defective, or breaks down.

Have you considered upgrading your old laptop?

You need to think about a lot of things when you decide to upgrade your laptop, especially the labor. Is it worth it to pay for the services or just buy a new laptop? It is a big decision whether to upgrade your old laptop or buy a new laptop.

Things you need to consider before deciding to upgrade your old laptop or not

1. When your laptop runs so slow. Check your CPU, RAM, and persistent storage. If these components malfunction and turn slowly, it is better to buy a new laptop. Fixing or upgrading these primary hardware components of it is not the best idea. It’s hard to replace these components as compared to desktops. It is even costly. It’s more advisable to buy a new laptop than upgrade it.

2. Need more storage. You may consider using an external hard drive for additional storage on your old laptop and store your files and data into it. However, the disadvantages of external hard drives include data loss risk because external hard drives are easily attacked by viruses, worms, and malware software. So, it is up to you to decide to buy a new laptop with more laptop storage space or just consider buying an external hard drive.

3. Laptop Screen or Laptop Display issues. If you can still fix the problems on your laptop screen, then you may still use your old laptop. However, if it makes you uncomfortable or uneasy when using your laptop with screen defects, then buying a laptop is a good thing.

4. Laptop won’t charge or turn on. If it comes with a removable battery and becomes defective, you may buy or replace your defective battery with a new one. However, if it comes with a non-removable battery, you may choose to replace your old laptop with a new laptop instead of fixing it, because it is a bit costly.

5. When you opt for a newer operating system. When you want to upgrade your windows operating system, you may install a new operating system on your old laptop and upgrade to a new version on your existing hard drive. But, you may buy a new laptop with the latest operating system because your old laptop might not be compatible with the required operating system.

Buying a new Laptop vs. Buying a new Tablet

What if? Instead of buying a new laptop, you prefer buying a new tablet. What is more advisable? Either of the two is advisable. Both can provide extremely effective and highly beneficial features depending on their usage and the specific needs of the user.

Difference between the Laptop and Tablet

a) tablets have longer battery life and laptops are more powerful.
b) laptops are heavier and more not convenient to carry compared to tablets.
c) tablets are great when web-browsing and exploring social media networks.
